Yes it is true. Carlos Guillen's VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) is 3rd best in all of baseball. He is ahead of Vlad, ARod, Tejada - need I mention Rich Aurilia. Guillen need to be considered as an MVP candidate.

What a great ballgame. Sunday's 7-5 win over the Indians is the first game I've watched start to finish since I walked out of the Yankee game after Jeter's homer. Even if they lose with these guys at least it will be interesting. How about Bucky's small sample size start: .625/.769/1.375! I'll be at the Red Sox game on Tuesday and I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow, this jolted me into posting. The M's will put John Olerud on waivers and be calling up Bucky Jacobsen from Tacoma. I'm pretty stunned by this move and should indicate a complete tear-down of the team leading up to the trading deadline. I can't say I disagree - but I would love to hear that the cost savings this year will be put forward to next years budget. USS Mariners makes the case that this won't happen.
Frankly I'm a lot more interested in using my late season tickets now. I want to see what the minor league talent can do so hopefully the team can identify what they really need. There is no need for a multiyear rebuild with this team. They have more cash than any team except the Yankees and Red Sox and if they use it correctly they will be back in it next year.
